The owner and founder of Solid Gold, Sissy Harington-McGill traveled to Germany in the early 1970 to acquire championship bloodline dogs. There she observed the long life and appreciating health of German dogs as compared to American dogs. Then she came to know that it’s all due to nutrientional dog’s food. As she returned home, she started to research on the nutrients important for dog’s food. After much struggle in a short span of time, she developed her own formula of healthy nutrient dog food by natural ingredients whom she gave name of Solid Gold.
Thus began Solid Gold Health Products For Pets, Inc., The Holistic Animal Nutrition Center. Solid Gold was chosen as the United States Chamber of Commerce Small Business Association, California Exporter of the Year. Sissy has a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in New York City. She began a doctoral program at the University of California, Berkeley and completed her coursework at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Today the company specializes in the production of foods containing no preservatives or saturated fats, and are made of USDA Choice meats, and grains like rice, barley, oats and millet, instead of wheat, soy, or corn like most other manufacturers. They also offer a line of skin treatments and shampoos.
