Labrador retriever was used as gun dog by people of Great Britain and was also developed by them at the beginning of 18th Century. Labrador retriever belongs to sporting breed group.
- Height: Labrador retriever is a very friendly dog. Male Labrador retriever is normally from 22 – 24 inches tall while female Labrador retriever is usually from 21 – 23 inches tall.
- Weight: Labrador retriever male has from 65 – 80 lb weight while female has from 55 – 70 lb weight.
- Colour: Labrador retriever has developed different coat colours. Most common colours are black, solid yellow, chocolate and sometimes a small white spot on chest is permissible.
- Temperament: Labrador retriever is known as friendly, loveable and every time happy dog. They have gentle, eager to please and non aggressive temperament.
Labrador retriever is kind to everyone and gives love if someone needs it. These dogs don’t love anything else more than hanging out with their family. They have incredible energy that makes them a wonderful companion to play with and to work within field.
Labrador retriever’s skull is quite wide and somewhat touches the eyebrows. They have somewhat curved lips around their jaws. They have wide nose and nose colour depends upon the colour of coat. The have deep eyes that are set apart on the sides of skull. Their eyes colour also varies depending on the coat colour of the dog. They have muscular thick long neck which is enough to play retrieve games. They have thick tail from bottom but slightly thin at the other end. Their tail is of curved shape when they are alert and they raise it in excitement. Their legs are also much sturdy. They have double coat giving them rough appearance and also preventing from weather elements.
Most common diseases in Labrador retriever are dysphasia and vision problems or eye disorder. Labrador retriever can keep in apartments with proper routine exercise but they are more comfortable in houses with yards. They like to hang out in any weather but prefer to go outside with their family members.
