German Shepherd

As clear from his name, German shepherd breed was developed in Germany during 18th Century by Germans for sheep’s herding and to guide them. German shepherd is extremely intelligent and highly trainable dog breed in the world. They are well known for their nonsense attitude. They are very brave and devoted to perform their duties. That’s why, they are known as fearless dogs. They love to work and protect their family. They always stay alert about their surrounding environment and confident in their behavior. They are highly intelligent so that they are very easy to train. Their training should be started at an early stage when they are puppies to avoid any bad habit.

German shepherd belongs to herding breed group. They are extremely devoted, brave, protective and known to build a strong relationship with their owners. In some German shepherds, violence and nervousness can be a problem. But this problem can be overcome just with training at an early ages. German shepherd male dog is near about 24 – 26 inches tall while female 22 – 24 inches tall in height. In this breed male has near about 75 – 85 lb though female has 65 – 75 lb weight. German shepherd is in various colours such as black, black and tan, black and grey, sable, cream and white but strong and rich colours are preferred. German shepherd is a fearless, aggressive, confident and active dog by nature. German shepherd is an incredible breed of dog with amazing versatility. German shepherd has been used as protector, detector, sheep herder and great companion as well. They feel happy when they are doing some job. So give them job to perform to avoid being destructive.

German shepherd dogs have a distinctive head in shape. They have dark coloured eyes of almond shape set to the sides of the head. Their ears are pointed and they stand up when they get alerted and lean to sides when get relaxed. German shepherd has tightly fitting hips and strong jaws. They have muscular neck that stays arched when they relax while carried high when they get alert. They have deep chest, carried forward giving impression of large chest. Their tail is very shaggy extending down to the hock. Nest legs of German shepherd are pretty strong and straight while back legs have curved shape. They have double coats. Outer long, fluffy and soft coat that gives them an admirable appearance while under coat layer keeps them safe from climate affects.

Unfortunately, with the development of some bad breed of German shepherd this breed is plagued with some health problems like dysplasia, digestive problems, epilepsy, blood disorders, allergies, personality disorders and eye diseases.
