Bulldog
Bull dog is a great companion and also known as English Bull dog. Bull dog breed was actually developed in Britain to hold bulls down for butchers. Bull dog is also used for bull biting. Bull dog has wrinkly and sturdy type of coat giving him impressive look. Some people love their coats while some people don’t like this dog just because of his wrinkly coat. It depends upon your choice and varies from person to person. Despite of his wrinkly coat, bull dog is very famous due to his friendly and gentle loyal nature. That’s why, bull dog is considered to be a great house pet and people really enjoy playing with him.
Bull dog actually belongs to non sporting breed group of dogs. Usually, bull dog male is about 14 – 16 inches tall. In the same way, female is 12 – 14 inches tall. Bull dog male weighs around 40 – 50 lb and female weighs around 30 – 45 lb in weight. Bull dogs have several coat colours such as red brindle, solid red, fallow, brindles, solid white and piebald. Bull dogs have kind, determined, brave and stately type of temperament. Bull dogs are used to attack on bulls, that’s why they are called bull dogs.
Bull dog is such a sweet dog who loves every one. Because of their loving nature, they are considered to be very sweet companions and family pets. Though, they are small in size but bull dog is a great protector of his family and home. They have resilient nature so they can adjust in any environment. Thus, they have some bad habits. These habits may irritate you sometimes like drooling, snoring, persistent flatulence.
Bull dog has wrinkled face and triangular shape ears set high on the head and flap over just a bit. They have deep set of oval shaped eyes and look far away from ears. They have fascinating wrinkled coat on neck and well rounded wrinkles on cheeks making them distinctive dog from various breeds. They have deep and wide sturdy chest with two front legs at sides. Bull dog’s back legs are shorter in size as compared to front legs while tail is short and hangs low. Bull dog usually may be victim of following diseases:
- Allergies
- Eye problems
- Dysplasia
Bull dogs can live as pet in apartments with normal exercise. They love to spend time with family members as best companion. Today, this dog is being used as companion and bull biting as well.
