Bloodhound
Blood Hound is also known as St. Hubert Hound. Basically, Blood Hound is native of Belgium founded in middle ages. By nature, Blood Hound is a hunter. They have incredible power to smell. Blood Hound’s exceptional nose has made it one of the well known breeds for scent tracking. Blood Hound is a very powerful dog not by looks only but due to its scent tracking power as well. Blood hound is very useful for detectives and rescue services. Bloodhounds are not considered to be great pets because of the amount of exercise they need and the fact that they need to be around people constantly. They are a very independent dog breed that sheds a lot, smells a lot if not maintained, making them a huge responsibility for the owner. But they are very loyal and gentle companions.
Blood Hound belongs to Hounds breed group. Blood Hound male has height of approximately 25 – 27 inches and female has 23 – 25 inches. Blood Hound male has weight around 90 – 110 lb while female has 80 – 100 lb. Blood Hound breed is found in various colours such as

Blood Hound has silent, polite and extremely affectionate temperament. They are loyal with their owner and provide them protection as well. Blood Hound is considered to be the best breed in the world with astonishing sense of scent tracking. Patient, loving, shy and kind are the best words to describe Blood Hound breed. They love to play with kids and be patted and loved by them. When they are puppies, then they are much energetic and want independence. In young age, they follow their own commands. Owner has to be patient while Blood Hound is being brought up by them. Their training should start since young age. Blood Hound should not be trusted off leash because of their incredible scent tracking power that makes them wonder until they don’t discover the end point of smell.
Blood Hound has unique type of coat that makes it distinguishable. They have loose skin all around their body. It is curled and folded on entire body, predominately on the forehead and sides of the face as well. They have diamond shape eyes and corners of the eye hang down. But they have variations in the colour of eye ball. The colour of eye ball depends upon the coat colour of your dog. Blood Hound is very tall but thin ears are set very low on the head. They have wide set and powerful shoulders helping them to walk for long distances without any training. Their feet are large and legs are straight. Today, Blood Hound are still used as scent tracking dogs.
